We are excited to announce the opening of our brand new family space at The Shops at Ithaca Mall, The Nook at Family Reading Partnership! The Nook is already open to visitors, and will host a grand opening celebration on October 27th from 3pm - 6pm. The whole community is invited to come see the new space and celebrate with FRP!
The Nook is a FREE family space designed for caregivers and children five and under to talk, sing, read, and play together
The Nook offers playthings chosen to encourage parent-child interaction and conversation, and books aplenty! All caregivers and children five and under are invited to wander in to play, read, and relax together, free of charge. Families are also welcome to come in and choose children’s books to keep! Book ownership is important in fostering an interest in reading and a love for books. Children feel pride in owning their own books, and develop confidence in reading and acquire mastery when books are easily within reach and can be read again and again.
We will be adding more organized programs such as story times and art exploration, but to start out, the space is intended as a drop-in place for families to play and reconnect. The Nook is open weekdays from 10am - 4pm, and is located near the food court inside The Shops at Ithaca Mall.
FRP has just moved to this new space and we looking to expand our collection of play materials. We have created a wishlist at Ithaca’s Alphabet Soup toy store, and items can be purchased in person or online!
