On the Move with Books!
Kids' Book Fest 2005

The Fest starts with a parade lead by unicyles.

Over 2,000 people traveled on in to "Kids’ Book Fest 2005: On the Move With Books," held Saturday, November 12.

The theme of this Fest was transportation and included all kinds of "on the go" activities for families based on children’s books.

The Fest started with a parade and group singing of "We All Go Traveling By" with local celebrity John Simon. Suzanne Bloom’s book The Bus for Us was featured and over 1,500 children received the book prior to the Fest. The author/illustrator was at the Fest signing books and gave a talk about what motivates and inspires her to write books.

Making your very own book is always part of the Fest.

Children and families were delighted to listen to stories, make their own vehicle-shaped books, meet local authors, wear costumes from favorite books, and greet storybook characters such as Rainbow Fish and Mother Goose. A special attraction was an interactive story room of The Bus for Us.

A high school student reads Dr. Seuss books to young listeners.

Each year the Kid’s Book Fest brings our community together to celebrate children’s books and promote the joy of reading. Thanks to the generous sponsorship support from new car dealers in Tompkins County, Bill Cooke Chevrolet Cadillac, Bill Cooke Imports, Cutting Motors, Honda of Ithaca, Maguire Chevrolet, Maguire Ford and Nissan and W.T. Pritchard Dodge Chrysler Jeep, this annual event was once again free for all families.
