'At Home with Books' by Katrina Morse

  • March 1 (Saturday), 10am-12noon
    Art-full Family Saturday
    Come enjoy a reading of "At Home with Books," with Katrina Morse, author, illustrator and Family Reading Partnership assistant director, at the Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art on the Cornell campus. Free for Museum Members/$5 per family for non-members. Make your own book or art activity!

    RED HOT SUCCESS!

    On March 15, 2008, the Family Reading Partnership hosted its first ever Red Hot Gala! Nearly 200 friends of Family Reading Partnership gathered to celebrate 10 years of connecting families and babies to books in our community! Together we raised over $12,000 during this special evening. Congratulations to Marty Allee, Tompkins Trust Company and Triad Foundation for being selected as the 2008 Read To Me Heroes!

    Barnes & Noble Book Fair Benefit for Beverly J. Martin Elementary PTA
    Barnes & Noble will be donating a portion of any purchase in the store, including the café (be sure to mention that you are there to support BJM). Special performances 10:30am-noon. Cal Walker and John Simon perform Read-Along Songs at 11:00am.

    Read aloud with your family today and continue reading aloud every day. Today is also author Beverly Cleary’s birthday! More about D.E.A.R.
  • April 27 (Sunday), 11am-1:30pm
    Annual 21 Run and Story Walk
    Join us at Cornell Plantations, Forest Home Drive for a 5K benefit run or 1K family walk. Families can enjoy meeting Mother Goose and hearing Cornell lacrosse players read books aloud at the Story Walk around the pond. Donations welcome. This event is held in memory of Mario St. George Boiardi, former Cornell University lacrosse player and team caption. 21 Run registration form

    Add your ideas to the brainstorming for our Kids’ Book Fest. Our featured book is “My Father’s Dragon” by Ruth Stiles Gannett Kahn. What kinds of activities and decorations can you dream up? Join us!

    We'll be deciding on a tagline based on the theme of "Adventure." Join us and add your ideas!

    Dad's Ugliest Tie Contest!
    Enter your dad’s ugliest tie from June 1st – June 12 in a contest at The Shops at Ithaca Mall (formerly Pyramid Mall) at the Customer Service Booth in front of Borders Books. Entry fee is $5. All proceeds benefit Family Reading Partnership. Winner will be announced on June 14th at 1pm. Prizes provided by Best Buy and Hangar Theatre. Read more about the contest!

    Summer Sprouts program at the Ithaca Children’s Garden, Cass Park featuring "How Groundhog's Garden Grew" by Lynn Cherry

    Summer Sprouts meets every Wednesday all summer long and features stories and gardening activities for young children ages 2-5 and their caregivers. FREE

    Story times at 10:30, 11:30, 12:30, and 1:30.
